To Begin With
This year asked more of us than we expected.
Last year, we participated in the Stanford Seed business accelerator programme and emerged energised. And then, almost immediately, reality intervened. This year, markets shifted, priorities changed, and certainty became scarce, not just for us, but for many of our clients as well.
What followed was not a year of neat execution, but one of learning how to navigate uncertainty with curiosity and care. It pushed us to question what growth really means, and what kind of work is worth doing in a world overflowing with information.
Somewhere along the way, a philosophy emerged at Plum, one we now return to often: scaling with depth. Building relevance not through reach or noise, but through intentional thinking, better questions, and work that genuinely helps.
As we head into the new year, this is the lens we hope to keep building through.
A philosophy that emerged: Scaling with depth
Not growth through visibility or volume, but through clarity, intention, and the courage to stay with complexity.
This philosophy emerged in response to the world we are operating in today. A world where information is instant, opinions are abundant, and speed is often mistaken for insight. In such an environment, the temptation is to simplify too quickly and move on.
For us at Plum, scaling with depth became a way to resist that pull. It meant slowing down where it mattered, sitting with ambiguity, and asking not just what is changing, but why it is changing. It also reshaped how we think about technology. Rather than treating tools like AI as replacements for thinking, we began to use them as collaborators that help us synthesise more, see patterns sooner, and create space for deeper interpretation.
As one team member reflected, “This year helped me get more comfortable asking ‘why’ and learning more deeply through others’ lived experiences.”
For Plum, scaling with depth is not just a way of working. It is a commitment to staying human, rigorous, and culturally grounded in a world that often rewards speed over sense.

What we saw shifting in culture
Through Plum Peels, across multiple perspectives
Over the year, a few cultural shifts surfaced again and again.
In Quiet Signals, we traced the move from performance to presence, where success was increasingly framed around rest, emotional alignment, and calm rather than constant optimisation.
Through Reclaiming the Everyday and The Ritual Economy, we noticed everyday practices, from food and care routines to movement and material choices, returning as grounding acts in an accelerated world.
In The age of Plural intelligences, we pondered what it means to bring human, digital, and cultural intelligences together in the age of AI.
Across several editions, we also saw a move away from borrowed aspiration toward co-authored identity, with people seeking participation, provenance, and voice rather than passive consumption.
Taken together, these perspectives pointed to a larger shift: meaning is moving out of products and into lived experience. This insight ultimately came together in our second syndicated report, The Future of Premium Experiences.
Work we are proud of
We’ve worked to be a trusted partner to our teams on some of their most challenging and complex questions.
This year, our work spanned jewellery, beauty, wellness, home, fashion, food-tech, e-commerce, health tech, creator commerce, manufacturing, and B2B contexts.
We explored themes ranging from water scarcity and waste management to storage and organisation in homes, evolving motivations for going out, and new service opportunities for long standing partners.
Along the way, we expanded our ability to work with high-value, niche, and expert audiences in complex and unfamiliar terrains.
As one team member shared, “Being pushed into new situations, speaking up, taking ownership, made this a year of steady growth.”

Building for what is next
To stay relevant in a changing landscape, we expanded our toolkit. We launched new offerings such as Plum Agile Pack, Hive Mind, and our syndicated reports, experimented with AI as a collaborator, and strengthened internal systems across marketing, business development, finance, and operations.
A meaningful milestone was setting up our Mumbai office, our first physical space since before the pandemic.
We were also fortunate to be coached through the year by our Stanford Seed mentor, Niranjan, whose guidance on refining our offer and building capacity helped shape our thinking in important ways.
This year also saw us engaging with the wider world through forums such as MRSI, ESOMAR, ET Brand Equity, and EPIC in Helsinki.

Looking ahead
As we move into the new year, we are carrying forward a few anchors: staying close to culture, building with intention, and choosing depth over noise.
Thank you for being part of our journey, as clients, collaborators, partners, and fellow thinkers.
Season’s greetings from all of us at Plum. Wishing you a restful year-end and a thoughtful start to the year ahead.
